Multimedia software are programs that entertain a user with music and videos. Some well known programs would be iTunes, QuickTime Player, WIndows Media Player, VLC Player and others like those. Basically, multimedia software is software that allows one entertainment through using the program.

Office software are programs that are used for business or school. Programs such as those in the MS Office Suite are a perfect example. Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access. There's also the OpenOffice Suite which is a free, open source equivalent to MS Office's software. OpenOffice consists of Word Processor (equal to Office Word), Presentation (equal to PowerPoint) and Spreadsheet (equal to Excel or Access). There are more programs in the OpenOffice Suite, but I have made my point.
